Bread & Beer is a strategic game for 2 players. By playing cards you harvest resources, improve your village, and sell beer and bread. Each card can be used in three different ways. Slide the card above the board for a harvest, below the board for a village expansion, or discard the card to sell beer and bread. The way you receive cards depends on the round. In a bountiful year you pass hand cards back and forth, each time choosing one card to play. In a lean year you must make do with the cards you are dealt, though you may trade a limited number with the trade-card area. After six rounds the player who has produced the most beer or bread wins. But there is a catch. Your final score is determined by the resource you produced the least of. So you can lose if you heavily focused on bread while your beer production remained very limited. Bread & Beer as a strategic two-player game is therefore a true challenge! The game is full of player interaction. Each round you must make decisive choices that have direct consequences for the next round. In addition, Bread & Beer is beautifully illustrated by Michael Menzel (The Legends of Andor, The Adventures of Robin Hood). Bread & Beer is recommended for anyone looking for a big game in a small box!
