Who plays De Graantje de Voorste?
Graantje de Voorste is especially suited to players who enjoy bluff and unexpected twists. Because everyone plays a face-down card simultaneously each round, they must try to guess what the other players are doing. That can lead to easily finding food, but also to dividing it or even fighting over it. This bluffing little game is easy to learn and therefore fun for the whole family!
How do you play Graantje de Voorste?
Each round six pens are filled with grain. Each player then chooses a card from their hand and places it face down in front of them. The colour of the card determines to which pen the poultry or fox goes. The number on the card indicates the point value of the animal. This matters if multiple birds go to the same pen or if a fox catches such an animal.
A bird that goes to a single coop takes all the grains. With multiple birds they can share, but if one of them refuses to share, they all roll a die and add the result to their score value. Whoever has the highest result may take all the grains. A fox that goes to a single coop gets nothing (it doesn't eat grain), but if poultry is present it eats it all. If multiple foxes go to the same coop, they must roll dice. Foxes are selfish animals and, in principle, share nothing!
When the last grains of grain have been scattered into the coops, the final round begins. The player who ultimately scores the most points from their collected grains and poultry cards is the winner.
