In The Good, The Bad and the Goat players take on the roles of various characters from the Old West, striving for wealth, control and dominance in a frontier town.
Over the three rounds of the game, players perform a dynamic exchange of character cards. As the dealer rotates between players, each turn involves revealing four cards and offering one face-down to another player. The dealer must state which character is being offered, but may lie about it. The receiver then chooses to accept or refuse the card. If accepted, they gain control of the character; if refused, the dealer gains control of the character. In either case, the player to the left becomes the new dealer. Characters give players coins or valuable possessions, but some, like the Sheriff and the Gunslinger, bring trouble or arrests. And of course nobody wants to take the Goat because it is worthless.
After three rounds (or four in two-player games) the game ends. The player with the highest total of money in coins and Belonging Tokens wins.
