Players in The Game try to play all 98 cards from the draw pile onto four discard piles to win, but they must do so in the correct manner.
Each player starts with 6–8 cards in hand, depending on the number of players, and there are four discard-pile prompt cards on the table: two with "1" and an upward arrow and two with "100" and a downward arrow. On a turn a player must play at least two cards from their hand onto one or more discard piles, placing cards on the 1 piles in ascending order and cards on the 100 piles in descending order. A tricky aspect of the game is that you may play a card exactly 10 higher/lower than the top card of a discard pile even if you would normally be playing in descending/ascending order; for example, if a 100 pile is topped by 87, you may play any card lower than 87 or you may play the 97.
